Koforidua: Woman Charged with Manslaughter as Omane Family Seeks Justice in Acid Attack Case

A 25-year-old woman, Vera Asare, accused of allegedly pouring acid on her boyfriend, Daniel Omane, has been charged with manslaughter by the Koforidua District Magistrate Court ‘A’, presided over by Her Worship Nana Ama Depaa Fynn. The case has since been referred to the Koforidua High Court for trial, with Vera to remain in police custody for two weeks before proceedings commence. The family of the late Daniel Omane, who died on July 25, 2025, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after months of battling injuries from the November 29, 2024, acid attack, is demanding justice. They are calling for full accountability from Vera, who is alleged to have carried out the act while Omane was asleep in his room. The Queen Mother of Akyem Ati, Nana Brempomah Amoafoa II, has reaffirmed her commitment to making education and social development her top priorities as part of efforts to drive national growth. Speaking to the media during the climax of her one-year anniversary celebration on the stool on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Nana Amoafoa II, a former Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, stressed that education remains the most powerful tool for community and national transformation. As part of the celebration, she distributed 4,000 exercise books to pupils in all basic schools within the community through the Municipal Education Directorate, headed by Mrs. Grace Adza-Wude.
