Kwadwo Atta Ap‎eakorang Urges UN to Intensify Efforts ‎

A Ghanaian non-governmental organization, Save The Nation For Future Leaders, has appealed to the United Nations to apply diplomacy in addressing the war between Russia and Ukraine and other strife-torn parts of the world. The organization, led by Kwadwo Atta Apeakorang, emphasizes the need for the UN to intensify its efforts to bring the concerned parties to the negotiating table and shift global priorities from manufacturing weapons and warfare to environmental rehabilitation and sustainability.

The appeal comes as the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, urges world leaders to "get priorities straight" and invest in development, peace, and people, rather than destruction and war. Guterres highlights the stark imbalance in global spending, with $2.7 trillion allocated to military spending, while humanitarian needs continue to rise.

The conflict has resulted in significant human suffering, with over 200 million people requiring humanitarian assistance and nearly 120 million forcibly displaced. The UN has launched emergency appeals totaling $1.7 billion to provide aid to those affected.
