Northern Region: Reports Indicate Major Breakthrough in Kidnapping Case

According to reports from the Northern Region, a major breakthrough has been made in a recent kidnapping case following an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of three suspects on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The arrests occurred at Bokpaba, a community along the Bimbilla–Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.

The suspects, identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi, are said to be part of a four-member syndicate alleged to have kidnapped a 42-year-old man from Wapuli in the Yendi District. The group reportedly demanded a ransom of GH¢100,000 from the victim’s family in exchange for his release.

Further reports indicate that a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate was dispatched to Wapuli after the incident, tasked with surveillance, rescue efforts, and arrest operations.

Information available suggests that on Friday, December 5, 2025, the rescue team successfully freed the victim and apprehended the suspects during an exchange of gunfire.

The three suspects are said to be in custody and expected to face court soon. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect, who is still at large, is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation. Reports indicate that the public is being encouraged to provide any information that could assist in locating him.
