E/R:Akyem Asafo: Peaceful First Day of Enstoolment for Nana Adoma Kyirekua I Ahead of Grand Durbar

The Akyem Asafo community in the Eastern Region has successfully marked the first day of activities leading to the enstoolment and outdooring of Gifty Nana Adu, who is being installed as Nana Adoma Kyirekua I, the Aduana Nkosuo Hemaa of Akyem Asafo.

The initial rites, held on 13th November 2025, took place in a calm and harmonious atmosphere as elders, traditional leaders, and residents gathered at the Chief’s Palace to witness the commencement of the historic ceremony.

The event was characterized by rich cultural displays, including traditional drumming, dancing, and the performance of sacred rituals that signify the legitimacy and continuity of Akyem tradition.

Addressing the gathering, Barimah Darkwanin, the Akyem Asafohene, called for mutual respect, unity, and peaceful coexistence among residents. He emphasized the need for cooperation as the community prepares for the main durbar.

The Queenmother, Nana Agyeiwaa Kordie, also urged community members to uphold the values of respect and togetherness, expressing confidence in the positive impact the new Nkosuo Hemaa will bring.

Some residents who witnessed the ceremony praised the smooth organisation of the first day’s activities. They also expressed gratitude to Oyerepa TV for covering the event, adding that the station remains their favourite and most trusted channel.

The festivities will continue with the grand durbar on Saturday, 15th November 2025, where Nana Adoma Kyirekua I will be formally outdoored to the public.

The community looks forward to a successful and colourful celebration in the days ahead.
