MCE Strengthens Community Collaboration to Enhance Inclusive Development in Kwahu West

As part of efforts to deepen community participation in local governance and identify development priorities, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of four communities within the Municipality.

The engagement offered an opportunity for the MCE to interact directly with traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and residents to discuss effective policy implementation and development planning. The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to promoting inclusive and participatory development across the Municipality.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Halidu Tamimu reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to addressing community concerns within available resources. He encouraged residents to actively support and participate in local governance processes. The well-attended meeting also served as a platform for residents to highlight pressing issues such as youth unemployment and the health hazards associated with landfill site management.

In furtherance, discussions also centered on environmental waste management challenges confronting the Municipality. The MCE acknowledged that the existing landfill site has reached full capacity due to inadequate engineered waste disposal systems, posing serious health risks to nearby communities.

He further expressed awareness of residents’ opposition to dumpsites located close to their homes, describing it as a major challenge to proper waste management and the search for suitable disposal sites.
