E/R:MCE Deepens Community Engagement to Drive Development in Kwahu West

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, has urged residents to actively engage the Assembly over their concerns to foster effective community development.

According to the MCE, residents and community members are vital partners in local governance and development. He emphasized that collaboration between the Assembly and community stakeholders is crucial for identifying challenges, planning, and implementing sustainable development projects across the municipality.

Hon. Tamimu made these remarks during an interactive meeting with residents, associations, traders, transport operators, traditional authorities, and Assembly members. The engagement aimed to create a participatory platform for stakeholders to voice their concerns and jointly find lasting solutions to the municipality’s developmental challenges.

Touching on the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, the MCE cautioned against politicizing the issue, stressing that it requires a united front irrespective of political affiliation. He called on traditional authorities to play a key role since they are well aware of those engaged in the act within their jurisdictions.

Adding his voice to the discussion, Nana Ampadu Sakyi II, Chief of Yaw-Koko, appealed to the MCE to join forces with traditional leaders in the fight against illegal mining. He described the destruction of farmlands and water bodies as a major threat to livelihoods in his community and warned those involved to desist from such unlawful activities.

On matters of security, Nana Asiedu Wadie II, Chief of Kwahu Awerigya, appealed to the MCE for the establishment of a police station in his community to help curb rising incidents of hooliganism, drug abuse, and crime. He cited a recent murder case in the area as an example of the growing security concerns that need urgent attention.

The MCE assured the chiefs and residents of the Assembly’s continued commitment to addressing their concerns and strengthening partnerships with communities to accelerate development in Kwahu West.
