E/R:MCE Assures Kwahu West Residents of Greater Transformation Under “Reset Agenda”
The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has held a Town Hall Meeting at Nkawkaw to strengthen local governance, accountability, and transparency, in line with the Local Government Act, Act 936 (2016), which mandates assemblies to engage citizens and render accounts of their stewardship.
Addressing stakeholders, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), urged residents to rally behind the new administration to achieve the vision of “greater transformation” under the Reset Agenda. He highlighted several developmental initiatives undertaken since assuming office, including the construction of schools with ancillary facilities, mechanized boreholes, and CHPS compounds. He further appealed to residents to honor their tax obligations to enable the Assembly raise adequate revenue to complete ongoing projects.
The MCE emphasized that Town Hall engagements are vital in promoting accountability, building trust, and ensuring inclusive decision-making. He pledged the Assembly’s commitment to strengthen participatory governance structures that allow citizens to play active roles in the municipality’s development.
Touching on discipline within the municipality, Hon. Halidu expressed concern over the behavior of some traders who return to the streets after decongestion exercises, causing obstruction in the township. He cautioned that offenders caught engaging in such acts would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent.
Residents also had the opportunity to raise concerns and contribute suggestions on issues such as health, sanitation, revenue mobilization, and improvement in educational standards. Many participants commended the Assembly for its developmental efforts and the interactive nature of the meeting.
