Ghanaian NGO Appeals to Donald Trump for Support on Environmental Sustainability
Accra, September 2, 2025 — Save The Nation For Future Leaders, a Ghanaian non-governmental organization (NGO), has appealed to U.S. President Donald J. Trump for support in addressing the growing threat of environmental degradation in Ghana.
In a letter dated September 2, 2025, and copied to the President of Ghana and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Founder and President of the NGO, Mr. Kwadwo Atta Apeakorang, emphasized the urgent need for global partnerships to tackle challenges such as deforestation, water pollution, and unsustainable mining practices.
The NGO, which has been actively engaged in national and international dialogues on peace, justice, and environmental sustainability, noted that while conflicts and wars continue to dominate global attention, the greatest battle humanity faces is the fight against environmental destruction.
“Ghana requires your assistance to focus on environmental sustainability. Your influence and global voice could play a significant role in mobilizing action, resources, and partnerships for this cause,” the letter stated.
Mr. Apeakorang expressed the organization’s readiness to engage with President Trump directly to explore collaborative initiatives in areas such as reforestation, clean energy, and responsible mining.
The appeal reflects a growing concern among civil society organizations in Ghana over the effects of climate change and unsustainable practices on livelihoods, ecosystems, and future generations.
