Former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and former Deputy Education Minister in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, has called on Ghanaians to uphold the core principles of Christianity—humility, love, affection, forgiveness, and peaceful co-existence—as demonstrated by the founders of the Methodist Church, Susanna Wesley and John Wesley.

She made the call on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the sidelines of the 12th/2nd Biennial Connexional Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary Delegates Conference held at the Methodist Church in Koforidua, Eastern Region. The conference was themed “Discipleship: Growing Into Christian Maturity.”

Addressing the gathering, Hon. The Paramount Queen Mother of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area,Nana Adutwumwaa Dokuah, who also spoke at the event, echoed similar sentiments. She urged women to uphold holiness and good moral values in their homes, so society would recognize them as role models of true Christian virtue.

Representing the Vice President of the Republic, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Hon. Evelyn Korang, Eastern Regional Representative on the Council of State, encouraged women to aspire for leadership positions. Sharing her own journey of determination to rise into leadership, she advised women not to shy away from positions of influence but to climb higher with courage and confidence.

The conference brought together prominent personalities, including Hon. Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, senior clergy of the Methodist Church, and several distinguished women leaders.

The biennial gathering served as a platform to empower women spiritually, morally, and socially, while reaffirming the Methodist Church’s commitment to raising disciples who live out Christian maturity in their families, communities, and the nation at large.
